QUIVIS

Captain Arthur David Linklater, Master mariner, was my grandfather. He was always known in the family as Dum - see 'Biography.' This page is called INDEX. Return here to navigate. Navigation here being less of an exact science than it was in Dum's day, the links steer you only in a general direction - plane sailing rather than Sumner lines. There is a detailed CONTENTS PAGE to assist with the Biography, with page by page links. The bulk of the Dum's 'Journal' is password protected. You'll find instructions when you get there.

"No man will be a sailor who has contrivance enough to get himself into a jail; for being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned... A man in a jail has more room, better food, and commonly better company." Samuel Johnson
